Meet the New Democrat Congress… The Same as the Old Democrat Congress

Recently George W. Bush is in stand off on some key issues with congress. This is a fascinating turn of events considering the first Wednesday after the first Monday in November of 2006 all the talk was how powerless and insignificant George W. Bush would be the rest of his term.

So what’s changed? How is it that recently house and senate democrats appear to have gotten themselves into this delimma? Well the first answer is that the Democrats won this election the same way they were winning the House in the 1980’s, with no strong party platform. In the 1980’s there would be some Democrats who were extremely conservative from the south and extremely liberal from places like California.

This resulted in many factions or groups within the democrat party itself. With the party so divided against itself, it was able to achieve pratically nothing.

Once again, due to the poorly defined democrat platform, finding one direction for the entire party to take is turning out to be very difficult.
